I visited a museum and came out with a hat design… who knew!
This hat was inspired by a medieval cowl hood headpiece which I came across in the museum. In tandem with the land people lived in harsh conditions and over the winter it was imperative to keep warm. The cowl had a large oversize hood with an elongated funnel shape, traditionally known as a liripipe, that could be twisted around the neck as a scarf to keep off the weather and the chill. We have used the same vibe in our cowl hoodie.
Taken this premise from the ancients we have reworked it in our quality fleece . We have created this in a block colour and also using contrast colours for the band and the tail. And then we added a fabulous long tassel.
Tactile warmth and softness add more than a smidge of joy to what began its life as a functional necessity.
Shaped at the top with a deep cuff that can be rolled if so desired. By rolling two cosy layers fleece of soft ramp up to a thermal four. The long tail can be left hung or snuggly wrapped around for ultimate warm.
Ready for adventure have made this hat in a variety of ways plain block with highlight relief colour in the tassel, contrast band and tassel, and appliquéd around with flowers or hearts
