About Kernow Fleece

Kernow Fleece is a luxury completely handmade ethical Cornish fashion label. Beach-to-town clothing thats just so by a country fire or snuggled in the hi tech city. You may have seen us featured in The Sunday Times! An artisan workshop.

A unique blend of vibrant comfortable body enhancing feel good Hygge clothing. Buying in the basic materials that we need and then we craft every item, every garment in our workshop in Bude. We have industrial sewing machines, overlocker, a huge cutting table and a determination to create clothing for real people from scratch. Our personal investment shines in each design decision and every stitch that is completed. Smocks with practical pockets, high fashion wraps , dresses, gillets,  hats,  dog coats.

We  are all about the the wearer and we love colour so in our workshop you will find a stock fleece in over 30 colour shades to suit season, mood, and skin tone. We  love people so we make clothes for real people, living real lives. Loving to put our clients first we now offer bespoke individual garments finding the right uplifting colour, and best silhouette.

Creating our products as responsibly as possible by choosing low-impact materials, and avoiding waste, from fibre to final our garments have travelled the minimum miles and been through the minimum of processes. Fleece is recycled bottles and tyres, 100% polyester it is easy to wash and quick to dry. Keeping you warm insulating, colour safe and using few resources to wash. Fleece is very long lasting and our garments will last you for years and years.

We love what we do so the attention to detail, the choosing, constructing and crafting just comes naturally to us.  How wonderful for that to be recognised for individually creating beautiful, fun and innovative clothing and in both 2022 and 2023 we were honoured to received a Style & Apparel Award from Luxlife.

This workshop of ours sits in a wonderful hub of artisan creativity, nestled (with parking) beside Bude Canal on the North Cornwall coast. On our doorstep, we are blessed with golden sandy beaches at Summerleaze, Widemouth, Sandymouth and a coast path of rugged coves and cliffs Duck Pool, Northcott Mouth. On the edge of the canal, sea lock and the river Neet. Coffee shops & eateries.

In 2009 I began by recycling and adapting, refreshing old garments into new. Great fun, but my real fascination lay in the construction and beauty of vintage clothing. The seed of Kernow Fleece began to grow. I took these beautiful pieces as inspiration to create clothing for more practical 20th century living. The fantastic Abby joined as design director putting her stamp using the skills, cut and style of vintage applying this to a thoroughly modern lightweight insulating fabric ‘fleece’ and natural organic beautiful sheepskin. Her degree in fashion from DeMontford University and working in both fast and slow fashion adds even more richness and much applauded at our 2023 Fashion show raising money for Cornwall Air Ambulance.

We are so happy to be where we are geographically, philosophically and creatively.

Making clothes we want to wear, sharing them with like minded souls and amending them to reflect the individuality of people. Lets not forget our four legged friends for whom we also bespoke sizes.

Taking our inspiration from the world around us. Moving ever forward.

Never knowingly cold and absolutely never dull!
