The smock is an icon of coastal identity and bohemian artists predominantly the domain of men originally in uncomfortable waxed utilitarian cloth. We have evolved to comfort but kept the tradition.  It’s warm, it’s traditional, it’s practical and it suits all body shapes. The pockets are super handy for just life.

Our Kernow Smock is available sized for Men also women & children. Offered here in block and contrast colour ways and available in ‘design you own’  just as you wish it. Football colours, crazy colours, match matchy with your team colours all is possible!

Designed during lockdown 2020. We wanted to create something new to us but strong with tradition. Dipping back into normality when the world around had simply gone mad.

The original smock or slop was worn by agricultural workers and fisherman as an outer garment to protect their clothing and themselves whilst they were working. The bohemian feel has its roots with the artists of the Newlyn in the late 19th Century.  At Kernow Fleece we have kept our design simple as homage to those who have gone before us. This updated Kernow smock made in sumptuous fleece gives it a feel of luxury and warmth. Never dull  the vibrant contrast inserts and/ or pockets add some fun.

Double layer stand up crew collar frames the face and a loose shape is great for moving around getting things done or sitting by the fire not getting anything done at all.

Our sizes are generous but if man size means taller, broader, longer arms etc just drop us an email and we can bespoke.

Care for non-organic Manmade Fleece

Our excellent quality lambskin fleece is durable just follow a few simple steps and you will have years of use.

A gentle wash or rinse is all the fleece needs so as to keep the fibres soft and fuzzy. Fleece will not shrink or fade when washed. Because polyester fleece is naturally stain-resistant, a cold water wash with a mild detergent should get your fleece clothing clean.

Top tips
Warm or hot water on a strong cycle will degrade the quality and reduce the waterproof resistance of the fleece over time.

  • Our fleece can be washed by hand or a washing machine.
  • Do not use heat. So no hot water, use a cool or cold wash. No ironing. No hot tumble dryers.
  • Use a mild washing detergent suitable for wool such as Woolite.
  • Do not use chlorine bleach or add fabric softeners to the wash and rinse cycle.
  • For tough stains that won’t budge, pre-treat them with a drop of dishwashing liquid, letting it set on the spot for about 10 minutes before blotting it away with a paper towel or cloth.

Turn your washing machine on to the gentle cycle setting using cool water. The delicate or hand wash cycle and then tumble dry on LOW or simply air dry.

Care For Organic Sheepskins

How to keep your sheepskin ticketyboo.

Regular Maintenance Cleaning

Keep your organic sheepskin out of direct sunlight as UV rays can damage the fibres to deteriorate leading to dyes fading.

Regularly give your sheepskin a rigorous shake loosening out dust & dirt this will bring back the bounce to the fibres.

With large rugs it could be easier to vacuum, do not use powered vacuum heads it will tangle the fur fibres.

Brush or comb out the fibres.

Stains

Clear up spills immediately, blotting excess liquid and removing solids.
,
If there is an oily stain sprinkle corn starch and leave for a few hours, once absorbed hoover & brush. Repeat as required

For mud or food mix a mild detergent solution. Take a white cloth, dip it in the solution and blot. The dirt will transfer to the cloth so revolve the cloth. Do not overset the rug and once clean blot the rug to remove any soap residue. Let the rug air dry and comb.

Pongs

Baking soda worked into rug then leave overnight to absorb shake out or vacuum and comb.

To wash the whole rug.

Prepare an enzyme-free wool wash warm solution. Submerge the rug for 10 minutes.

Drain the water. And replace with clean cool water, squeeze the water through the fibres. Drain the water and repeat until there are no soap suds.

Gentled squeeze out the excess water and use towels to blot.
Hang out the rug to dry.

Note:
The rug will be very heavy wet.
Never comb wet fibres.
Do not twist /wring out the rug.
